Betty Cohn is a second year PhD student in Public Health Genetics at the University of Washington. She earned her B.A. in Biomedical Ethics from Binghamton University and went on to complete her Master of Bioethics (MBE) at Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics. Her research interests lie in ELSI (Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications) of genetics and genomics, with a particular focus on direct-to-consumer genetic testing and social media. Recently she has worked on projects concerned with using polygenic risk scores in primary care and embryo selection. After her doctoral program she wishes to continue to work in academic at the post-doctoral and later at the professor level.
