Research Genetic Counselor
Columbia University, New York, United States
I am a certified research genetic counselor in the Ottman lab at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Our study is focused on understanding the impact of learning the risk to develop Alzheimer’s disease in Latinos. As a research genetic counselor, I support the logistical, educational, and emotional needs of Spanish-speaking participants enrolled in the IDEAL study.
In my free time, I help run an international non-profit organization (SPLAGen) aimed at increasing awareness of and access to genetic counseling services in Latin America. In this role, I have taken on multiple responsibilities, and it has been a fulfilling experience working with others who are equally committed to promoting equity in genetics healthcare.
