Scientific Program Analyst
National Human Genome Research Institute, National Institute of Health
Springfield, Virginia, United States
I recently graduated Summa cum Laude from Christopher Newport University with a BS in Biochemistry and minors in Spanish and Leadership Studies. At CNU, I was a member of the Honors Program, President's Leadership Program, and Varsity cross country and track/field teams. I performed independent research utilizing Gateway technology to subclone genes into destination vectors and transform bacterial cells to study gene regulation pathways. I also participated in an internship in a molecular biology lab in Costa Rica, performing DNA extractions, PCR, and sequence revisions on diverse species with a focus on conservation. In Costa Rica, I also led a research project on the genetic basis of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and the challenges of diagnosis and treatment of patients. I currently work at The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) as a scientific program analyst, where I facilitate the functioning of the Impact of Genomic Variation on Function (IGVF) and Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications (ELSI) programs.
