Jannieke Simons is a PhD student at the University Medical Centre Utrecht in The Netherlands. During her studies - a BSc in Nanobiology from TU Delft/Erasmus University Rotterdam and an MA in Applied Ethics for Utrecht University - she developed a keen interest in the ethics of biotechnological and biomedical innovations. Following a three-month research project at the Oxford Uehiro Center for Practical Ethics, she started her PhD research, under the supervision of Dr. Rieke van der Graaf and Prof. dr. Hans van Delden at the UMC Utrecht, which investigates the ethical dimensions of human somatic prime editing therapy for inherited cardiomyopathies.
