DaLaina began her research career at the University of Denver as a Research Assistant in the Neurodevelopmental Research Program working on the CARES project, a large clinical trail examining whether preventative interventions can mitigate the impact of prenatal depression on the child's brain development, socio-emotional development and physical health. In subsequent years, her research interests surround intersection of social determinants of health and public policy. Her most recent work is affiliated with the Early Detection of Genetic Risk Study (EDGE) whose goal is to evaluate two methods of integrating genetic testing for hereditary cancers into the primary care study. DaLaina recently pivoted to using her research experience to facilitate grant-based research whose goal is to promote equity and combat disparities in healthcare.
